It is the festival of colors, it is the festival of joy, yes it is HOLI. The festival of colors is right there on your door step, but how are you going to protect your home from getting in the vibrant hues of HOLI? Here are some smart techniques which you can follow to keep your home clean this festive season:


Walls:


Walls are affected by holi colors at the most and removing color stains from walls is the most difficult task, so it is better to take prior care. Coat your interior walls with anti-stain varnish if your wall is painted with oil or luster paints, this would protect the walls from the marks.


Door:


Door is the first thing that gets attacked with colors. By applying some turpentine on the door knob, you can protect it from the patch of colors.You can also apply mustard oil which will give the same result.


Floors and bathroom tiles:


For floors and bathroom tiles there are tips to removing the stains. Make paste of baking soda and water and apply on the stained area, keep it for some time and brush it off  and for marble floors you can use liquid bleach.


Furniture and other furnishings:


The best way to prevent furniture from colors is to cover all your furniture like sofa, bed with old bed sheets or newspapers. If you have wooden furniture then you can clean it off with varnish. If dining table or kitchen cabinets get tainted then just take some acetone or hydrogen peroxide to remove the spots of colors.

Bathroom fittings:



If you are all colored, the first thing which you will do after entering home is taking a bath. Bath will surely remove your colors from your body but will leave your bathroom colored. Therefore the best and an effective way to protect your bathroom fixture is by applying petroleum jelly on the fixtures or use liquid detergents to remove the stains.
